Ah, not a comic book buff myself, but will celebrate that on this day in 1940, the first issue of Captain America Comics was published, with this iconic cover.

"When the first issue came out we got a lot of ... threatening letters and hate mail. Some people really opposed what Cap stood for."

Captain America is wearing a brightly colored superhero costume that consists of a blue shirt with a large start across the chest and vertical red and white stripes below it, and is also wearing red gloves, a blue mask covering the top half of his face, with little wings attached to the side of the mask. He is also holding a shield for protection.

Hitler is wearing a brown Nazi uniform, and looks visibly in pain. Good.

There is a small crowd of Nazi soldiers looking on helplessly. One of them is attempting to shoot at Captain America, but the bullet hits the shield he's carrying.
