What #film or #tv show - (past or current) brings you joy?

Right now I find Julia (on Max) just delightful. The series follows Julia Child as she creates The French Chef.

While I admit I may be biased given I work on a PBS #food show, I don’t think that’s it. The actors are outstanding & it’s beautifully filmed - the colors are somehow both realistic & richer than real life. Characters are people I want to spend time with & every episode makes me smile.

Ted Lasso, natch. The Good Place. Occasional Star Trek epsodes. Firefly.

Films: The Princess Bride. Under The Tuscan Sun.

The Good Place never failed to cheer me up, but probably the number one is Doctor Who. Because no matter what bad things happen, there’s always hope, there’s always kindness, there’s always a good side to humanity

Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories. It's just so kind and calm. And also just the right amount of weird.

@kyozou Agree. She is truly incredible. And the supporting cast is magnificent too.

I am mostly struck by the size and the quality of the building, and the sets at a public television station. These days, most of those old buildings have been sold off, and the remnants of the remnants are operating out of a former nail salon in a strip mall #kcet

@dave Really?! I didn’t realize KCET was in a strip mall. I worked with them distantly a bit in the 00s.

I’ve been fortunate to be at WKAR which has the benefit of being based at a university. The same was true with projects at KUT when I was at UT Austin. WGBH is a big station.

@dave We film Serving Up Science in my house, but they had initially created a kitchen set in the studio for our pilot which was pretty nice.

Thanks for the recommendation! Few things I have loved: Ted Lasso (all seasons, all episodes) and Station Eleven (on Max), which was an absolutely brilliant character-driven hopeful human post-apocalypse miniseries that my wife and I adored.

My top favourite films appear to be the Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, & (Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire) Spiderman trilogies! Spiderverse too, but its not a trilogy *yet*. There's other movies I like too, but I find these ones endlessly rewatchable!

For shows I mostly enjoy internet-audio now (ask if interested), but the Lackadaisy pilot (https://iron-circus.itch.io/ or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vffu6FG4YP4) is great. And as a child I loved Dr Who & Fringe!

Lessons in Chemistry will put you in a similar (but fictional) space. It's on AppleTV+ and just completed its episode drop.

on the other end of the spectrum is the magnificent "The Bear" on Hulu. It will make you cry, though.

the rest won't be either but it's an easy incredible series. Probably the best I've seen this year.

I make my own short films.

This one shows my landing gear correctly actuating (by manual cockpit lever) between extended and retracted states.

This brings me joy.

If we're talking food shows, I'm always down for a few episodes of the old English dubbed Iron Chef.

Jeeves & Wooster has been working for me for a couple of decades. Especially the very first episode where Jeeves is introduced.
