Linux mint like every year. Will be replaced once the LTS runs out with an atomic OS. Hopefully KDE

CachyOS, Never thought that I ever switch from a ubuntu-based distribution. Setting everything for gaming with one click. Steam just works.

not linux distro but FreeBSD is my new daily drive OS

Finally moved from Win11 to Kubuntu (25.04 and then 25.10)

I switched from Kubuntu to NixOS. I needed something different and to be able to admin for my family on an ongoing basis.

With a code repo to store and manage config and a homegrown deployment script it's really been a great step up.

Still running EDIT: driving Ubuntu Studio.

@AerynOS . A Rust-based package manager with atomic update system that suits me very well.

I switched to Mint after being on Ubuntu for several years. I loaded Mint onto an old laptop to use for debugging embedded devices at work. That gave me the chance to experience the ease-of-use Mint has over regular Ubuntu. That motivated me to put Mint on my home desktop as well.

I switched from macOS to #Kubuntu LTS on my intel iMac.

Not going back. 🙂

I am so mad at Apple right now.

CachyOS - Desktop. Ubuntu - Server (though I'm planning on switching to Debian).

Used Windows 10 until I couldn't anymore. Jumped to Fedora and became very happy, but then reports came in of Fedora and AI, so then I switched to LMDE. Still happy. Playing Diablo 2 and Winamp through Crossover.

I have many computers. Linux Mint, Fedora 43, Debian, HAOS are the OSes that are used regularly.

Linux Mint (was on Ubuntu before, Mint feels like the better Ubuntu). I considered and tried CachyOS, but didn't like it.

Started with LMDE, hopped to Pop!_OS, then moved over to EndeavourOS, and finally made a home on Manjaro.

I've been using dual boot of #ubuntu and #gentoolinux for a year in my #slimbook . (Sharing firefox and thunderbird profiles, nextcloud and zotero between installations)
I hadn't used gentoo since I was twenty and I was afraid :blobugh:
And now I have just removed ubuntu! Full time gentoo now :toot:

switched from openSUSE Leap to Garuda, snapshots ftw when experimenting 😂

Kubuntu (first time switching, after around 17 years with Ubuntu).

I'm not really a distro hopper (yet) due to the fact that I am relatively new to #Linux. I installed #LinuxMint on an old Mac Mini I had laying around, and am quite happy with it, especially after switching to #XFCE from #cinnamon. Have hardly touched my MacBook in weeks.

Nixos.

And, to my surprise, Qubes: if you ever tried that in the past years, like I did, do yourself a favor and try 4.3. They did a great job with the tooling and it is now a lot more mature.

ZorinOS. It might be a limited time, but the “out-of-the -box” experience has been great, stable, and simple.

Ubuntu! With Asahi Linux being in such good shape, its nice to use the same OS on both my laptop and desktop

After a bunch of distro hopping, I settled on Mint with Cinnamon desktop. I previously was using Linux Lite in 2024, but ran into a problem where it could no longer use my PC's headphone/speaker jack (apparently a common problem). The desktop environment and package manager turned out to be the deciding factor on which distro I settled on.

surprisingly, Debian, for my laptop.. Ubuntu was, for 20 years or so..

fedora for me 😁
Not having to deal with the terminal while at school is quite nice (I'm the only one at my school that uses Linux lol)

Arch Linux + KDE

Been using Linux Mint more or more for desktop, Debian for servers.
Still got one Ubuntu laptop around, but since I don't want to upgrade it, I'll try to replace it with Mint eventually.

2025 was the year I switched distributions several times a month, which allowed me to realize that there's always something better than our current distribution, so we just need to stick with one that works. That's why, in 2026, I'm staying with Fedora.
