Tech bros in Silicon Valley who lack expertise in #climate #science should not be tinkering with the planet in the name of selling carbon credits. This is reckless. nytimes.com/2024/09/25/climate…
the balloon is basically litter, unless they retrieve. The winnebago uses fuel. The balloon made from. Petrochemicals no doubt. The fabrication, pressurization and distribution of the SO2. Seems like this batched approach would on its own might be carbon positive.... negative credits.
it’s the arrogance of these self important idiots that drives me mad. every single one of them is a perfect Dunning-kruger example. all self belief, not even the faintest sense that they might possibly have got it wrong
SO2 has a short residence time compared to CO2. To sell this (very bad idea) as carbon credits they’d need a plan to keep injecting SO2 for a thousand years or so, not a timescale tech bros are good at, even when they try.

I'm still holding the opinion that it's not the climate change that will end human (all) life on this planet.
On the other hand, I'm a misanthrope so keep on worrying about balloons and fuel consumption.
