My boys & I have been slowly making our way through every Studio Ghibli film. Tonight we watched Nausicaä.

It’s a spectacular movie with incredibly timely themes despite being 40 years old. We loved it. And if you follow me here, you may too. #art #film

we were driving home the other night, and my son commented that all the blinking red lights on the wind turbines in the distance looked like the charging Ohmu towards the end. So happy we watched all these films together.

Jon Hamm does some character's voices for those... never knew until saw an interview with him. Would've never guessed.

we've been making our way through that collection too. Haven't gotten to this one yet though.

One of my favorites. Right up there with Princess Mononoke, which also has a lot of themes in common.

I have two full sets of the manga, which is really fantastic and I highly recommend it (obviously better than the movie because there's a lot more content that doesn't fit in a single film 😅). The series is sold in boxsets these days and isn't out of print, so it should be easy to find. Your library might have it too.

please continue to keep us updated I’m working thru them all as well! Nausicaa is wonderful.

We've Seen only a few of them. Today "My neighbor Totoro" is my favourite.

I found this picture somewhere at the internet. We want to watch all of them.

Nausicaa was so good it temporarily supplanted Spirited Away as my favorite.

The music is mesmerizing, the theme strong and committed, the main character broke standards. It is a movie that goes beyond what was even done at its time.
Unreleased in Theaters in France until very late, I watched it years before while I was studying Miyazaki. I was stunned we never heard of it before.

my kids and I love them too! I took them to the Boy and the Heron this week - another masterpiece.

I just rewatched The Matrix and felt the same way. Still very relevant themes, and I even picked up a detail I didn't notice the previous several times.

I saw it in Japan when it came out and it was my first Miyazaki film and seeing it in a theater as a kid was so amazing - it’s still my favorite ❤️ partly b/c of that!

If you ever find yourself with the means and opportunity, the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo is fantastic. https://www.ghibli-museum.jp/en/

We raised our kids in Ghibli movies and Nausicaä was such a favourite one of my kids had a Nausicaä cosplay. She loved it the year she wore it to Calgary Expo because there were people there who actually recognized it.

This movie was among my earlier introductions to anime. It truly blew me away. To this day I frequently think of it from time to time even though I haven't seen it in so long.

Truly a classic if there ever was one.

my girls loved studio Ghibli too. They really tuned in to the gentle pace of the films and the magical characters which flip from being real to fantastic without the blink of an eye. My youngest (now 15) is still increasing her Totoro collection, i think she has about half a dozen soft toys, a bag, a sleeping bag, a blanket and at least a couple of books 😊.
