Yeah, it's ... frustrating. The main line is that "we make the world's cleanest oil", which is both dubious and referring to production that makes up a small amount of emissions compared to burning the stuff. But when pressed the middle square is what takes over.
I hear similar excuses from my friends who fly a lot, drive big SUVs, have two homes, eat meat, and in general live high-carbon lifestyles despite knowing better. Thanks for framing this.
