Meta’s new opt-out setting limits visibility of politics on Instagram and Threads https://www.theverge.com/2024/3/25/24111604/meta-setting-downranks-politics-instagram-threads
in reply to The Verge

If you want full control over your social media experience, simply follow the same Threads users from your Mastodon account.

If you want to follow any Threads users, you're gonna have a hard time doing that in Fedi because of how widely they're blocked.
in reply to Blake Leonard

@blake @Gargron then join an instance that doesn’t force the block on you, users have individual choice on Mastodon to block instances
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron would definitely love to do this, but not everyone I follow on threads is opting into the fediverse beta. A bit concerned meta will just leave it optional forever.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron How long are we away from being able to do that? There are a handful of Threads folks I'd like to follow from here 😀

@RxBrad I’d be very curious about the actual numbers, as even 5% of their userbase would be a lot in our terms. But what really matters is that high profile accounts do it, the ones who have pull.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron Same.

Unfortunately, of all of the "official" news & other organization accounts I've tried (CNN, NPR, ESPN, etc), they've all been batting 0.000 on Federation.

in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron @RxBrad very small sample and obiously algo biased, but this.

I also want to see @potus@threads.net and others here.
