I'd recommend Debian for ease of finding resources on line. I'd recommend Alpine Linux because I absolutely love it and it is amazing 😛

thankfully I have two rpis! I think I'll start with the Debian one and move some more services that _need_ to be online a lot to the Alpine one

I've been having a fun time experimenting with dietpi over the last few weeks. i'm fairly sure i'm seeing some performance gains from it so that's cool.
