Great, interesting article. About not keeping it online due to power blackouts, perhaps he could use a battery somehow to keep it online. Bit like a UPS - charged all the time until the power goes out and the battery is no longer being charged. Amazing project nonetheless.

A geigher counter reading ~25CPM is about right for an average reading in the UK.

Here in Kent I average around 20 ±5 cpm most of the time (unless I place a test source next to it).

Some parts of the UK can be a little bit higher.

I'm using a GMC-320 Plus connected via USB to the #raspberryPi I'm running #HomeAssistant on.

Readings are via serial - the protocol for those is freely available online
