For over a decade Philips Hue offered lights that work without sharing your data to the cloud. This is changing soon and we need your help to make some noise to convince them to revert this decision.

To everyone following my Gonk adventures. Inside this little fella is a @Raspberry_Pi PicoW, a mmWave presence sensor from @seeedstudio , a small mono OLED screen, a pair of green LEDs and a single Neopixel. The whole arrangement is hooked up to #homeassistant using the MiniMQTT library in @circuitpython (#CircuitPython also controls all the hardware too).

Make it like the alexa speakers and it will fit in with #homeassistant year of voice.

If you hadn't posted this on Mastodon, I wouldn't have driven up from Surrey to Cambridge to get hold of a CM4 module that I really needed for #HomeAssistant project. But since I had driven up, I bought a few more things, including a mug and a Pi 4 for my son.

Also special mention to the guys in store, really helpful and friendly. Loved the experience, wish I could of stayed longer, but had to drive back for school pickup.

Thank you all as I now have what I needed and more.

A geigher counter reading ~25CPM is about right for an average reading in the UK.

Here in Kent I average around 20 ±5 cpm most of the time (unless I place a test source next to it).

Some parts of the UK can be a little bit higher.

I'm using a GMC-320 Plus connected via USB to the #raspberryPi I'm running #HomeAssistant on.

Readings are via serial - the protocol for those is freely available online

One challenge with #careGiving / being a #careGiver is keeping #appointments straight. Both for the caregivers, and the person being cared for. Especially when there is #memoryLoss at play.

Back in November I started a Status Board project with a #raspberryPi 2B. After several iterations and incorporating user feedback, #Grandma has enjoyed having up-to-date info. #Mom has liked the ease of #automation. And I get to #nerd out a bit.

Half squee? I mean, I was seriously hoping this update would announce non-dev pre-orders for the #PinePhonePro, and they're not here yet, but... soon? Can't wait! 😁

Serious kudo's to Gaimee for being willing to tackle reverse engineering hardware H264 encoding drivers on the #PineCube! Looking forward to hooking my PineCube up to #HomeAssistant!

Sidenote:Is there any possibility the Pine64 blog might ever adopt a #fediverse commenting plugin? I think you'd get much more interaction...
