The louder the dawn chorus and the cacophony of #wildlife, the better the locale and, by extension, life for the creatures that dwell there.

Soundscapes can provide a valuable insight into the health of a habitat. A #RaspberryPi can help conservationists listen in.

Looking at the details, their site says:

"The Bugg real-time eco-acoustic monitoring device is now fully #opensource (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)"

Unfortunately, the "NC" license isn't open source. These means it isn't Wikipedia/Debian "compatible", for example.

I have been running outdoor nature microphones in Roosevelt National Forest. I look forward to finding a truly open source solution.

The hard part for me at the moment is a IP68 microphone setup.
