Maybe my timeline is just disproportionately girly, but is the fediverse even all that dude-heavy anymore? Early on, sure, most new platforms tend to inherit the "nerd boys" energy of the tech industry as a whole, but it looks to me like the fediverse has already trended hard away from that.

The idea of fedi being full of "tech bros" is just a talking point the corporate tech bros are pushing at this point, there's a grain of truth to it, but the way its being deployed is bullshit -- knda like "Bernie bros"

So there is a right wing racist fedi that is significantly large but yeah like you said all the non racists block them, as opposed to Meta where you are forced do deal with millions of right wingers, and the algorithm might actually encourage those encounters because it drives up engagement
