Its at a point where it just works, at least with steam.

The compatible catalog is comparable to consoles. Not everything is there, but more than enough to make it a viable platform for gaming.

One of the big problems that still holds it back is anticheat. This won't change until devs really support it.

In a way, valve has solved the chicken egg problem with proton, so I hope adoption will rise.

It's the primary reason I've been gaming on Linux since Fedora 32 KDE.

Now I'm on #bazzite 40

it never has been better for #LinuxGaming . Yet there is still a long way to go, until the last developers see that #Linux is here to stay and can't be ignored anymore. Linux is the past, the present and the future. And just as Microsoft once said, Linux is CANCER ! It slowly but surly eats Microsofts former marketshare, especially on the #dEsktop. ( on servers , appliances and embedded there is no more competition ;] ) Linux FTW , all the way! #OpenSource OR BUST!

overall great. The only issue I have personally, are 3rd party modding utilities. Like bg3 mod manager and stuff for cyberpunk. The games run great. Being able to mod them is not so great.

its awesome. i switched to linux on my computer, since i also own the steamdeck. and many games run even faster as on windoze.

It's getting better. But the end user software to configure gaming needs to get way more user friendly (except for steam). It's still very technical. I hope that changes a bit before the end of life of Windows 10

I'm not a gamer but I think development in this direction is great. First of all, it's good for any Linux users who want to game. Second, I'm sure the work to make Linux a better gaming platform benefits us all.

Getting better. However, three things that I need for a full change-over;

Much better support for Logitech G keyboards. I've used the G15/G510 for well over a decade, and Linux support is poop.

2-channel positional psychoacoustics. Windows Sonic for Headphones is amazingly good at this, even on low-spec USB sound devices.

Battlenet games. Yeah, I'm old, and set in my ways. 90% of my PC gaming time is in WoW. Bnet support is wonky at best.
