Yesterday was my dad’s birthday. DOGE wrote me a letter this month. They want money back from him.
He had schizophrenia and was sometimes homeless. In his later years I was able to help him stay housed, and he received $180 of SSI monthly which went toward his rent in assisted living in a low-income bed.
But DOGE has realized that they overpaid him. So they sent a letter warning that some of that money may need to be returned.
The thing is, my dad is dead.
