Did you know that a same sex love poem written over 400 years ago in #Scots was recently discovered?
The poem was penned anonymously, at a time when homosexuality was a criminal offence & the Witch trials were occurring, but the author is believed to have been Marie Maitland.
Poem 49 of the Maitland Quarto manuscript expresses the author’s frustration at being unable to marry the woman she loves.
