I did manage to get back to Malaga Cove over the weekend, and the creek has got quite a bit more water flowing through it! And presumably, someone cleared out some of the underbrush before the rains kick-started the winter greenery.

A waterfall about the height of a house, its lowest step clearly a flat block of concrete, drops from behind a sparsely-leaved tree and past a short building with enclosed balconies. Past the edges of the waterfall you can see a pair of spreading concrete walls with water stains and crawling vines. Grasses, mallows and iceplants grow around the edges and up to the foreground.
A shallow creek, looking a sickly yellow-green, runs diagonally past bushes on one side and an overhanging tree on the other out toward the sea, which is visible beyond a jumble of rocks. The tree is mostly bare, but a few leaves are visible - whether the first of spring or the last of winter is hard to be sure in this climate.
