We have finally received the last parts we had machined, once those are installed we're ready to cast off and head to Alaska!

These were our old chainplates covers, they're a bit dammaged but it doesn't really matter much, we had the slot enlarged to fit our new chainplates.

It works!
We got this far without testing if the stove itself worked. Testing for leaks in propane fittings is done by putting soapy water at connections and see if bubbles form. Job done, next up: electrical panel.

To limit the condensation in the winter seeping into the foam, we elevated it with this space-material looking thing. Hopefully it will help protect our newly upholstered cushions.

So our cushions are goners, they're so thin sitting on them compresses them into nil. And, building foam mattresses from scratch has this very weird thing where buying an already upholstered mattress is cheaper than buying foam, and fabric individually - And making your own.

So we found a place that sells replacement cushions for lawn chairs and that sort of thing, and we'll just hack them into what we need.

First, we'll add batting to them.

Took the lifelines off Pino, we will replace them with dyneema soon. I found many cracks and broken strands, it's scary to think that these were what was supposed to keep up on deck if we had an accident while working topside.

Done for today. It's not perfectly watertight due to picture number 4 (no core added there yet, too close to a corner and I'll need to jigsaw a special size piece there, which I'll deal with later - but epoxy only wanted to spread so cleanly over thin air), but it'll be god damn close - add plastic film and masking tape and it's "fine" to sail with for a few days. #theBoatyard

Thanks in big parts to @neauoire throwing out the design I had in mind for mounting these panels and instead proposing this way better location and method, and their help on the assembly side... My solar panels are mounted, and hot damn they look pretty. Not wired yet - that's a tomorrow problem. For now, dinner time!

Finished stitching the cover for the mini bimini we put together last week.

This re-uses old bits of sunbrella pieces from our former (torn)canvas dodger, and the piece that used to snap over the windows.

It's not a perfect perfect fit(worked with what I had), but at least it'll keep us a bit more cool when steering this summer, and it means we can extend the life of the bit of sunbrella we already had on hand.

Cap shrouds done apart from wanting chafe protection at least for where they pass the spreaders. Also made the checkstays yesterday. Still the lower shrouds, backstays, and a the outer one of the twin forestays to make but waiting on some fittings for those. It seems to take a couple of hours to measure out and splice each pair of stays.

Hands a bit blistered, this HMWPE rope is tough stuff before it breaks in.
