From one of the last paragraphs: “Beyond gearing up for Phase 2, NASA recently awarded Rolls Royce North American Technologies, Brayton Energy, and General Electric contracts to develop Brayton power converters.”
So, fission to produce heat, and Brayton power converters to turn it into electricity.. Hmmm, too bad we can’t just hop over to Tosche Station to pick up those power converters.

in reply to NASA • • •Interesting. With an orbital period of 19 days it is almost certainly tidally locked.
And with a predicted mean temperature of 234 +/- 12 K, it will be cold if it is rotating.
Most likely this planet will have one roasted face, one frozen face, and a turbulent transition band where liquid water and life is possible.
More though, huge solar flares from its red dwarf star seem likely to keep it sterile.
