"The Largest Satellites of Earth"

I think the ISS is somewhat larger than the Lunar Lander.

The closest stars to Earth, aside from our Sun, are part of a triple-star system and can be seen in our night skies. One of those stars, Alpha Centauri A (officially named Rigil Kentaurus), is bigger, brighter and older than our Sun. 🌟 Interactive: go.nasa.gov/3MXP83j

Scientists detected a gamma-ray burst on Oct. 9, 2022, that they called the BOAT: Brightest Of All Time. Data from our @NASAUniverse NuSTAR telescope provided clues about the collapsing star that triggered this record-breaking event. go.nasa.gov/3qvQt9L

In biological oceanography, it helps to have a good filter 🙊

Happy launch-iversary to the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope!

Nice! I especially like this line: “Today, the majority of spectral absorption lines have been identified - but not all.” It links to ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2005…

20 years ago, Spirit was on its way to Mars!

#NOW in 2003, the first of 2 nearly identical Mars rovers (named Spirit) was launched to the Red Planet. Spirit went on to successfully land in Gusev Crater and explore the Martian terrain for over 6 years. go.nasa.gov/3qwjPEY

Another exciting week at NASA in the books!

The #CRS28 mission delivered cargo to the @Space_Station and @NASA_Astronauts Steve Bowen and @Astro_Woody performed a spacewalk to upgrade the space station’s power supply.

#50YearsAgo today, the Explorer 49 satellite launched toward the Moon to study low-frequency radio emissions from our solar system and beyond.

With its antennas deployed it measured 457.2 m, making it the largest human-made object to orbit the Moon. go.nasa.gov/3OWKLI9

This week on #SpaceToGround, a @SpaceX commercial resupply mission docks to the station, a science experiment that studies aging in space, and @NASA_Astronauts successfully complete a spacewalk to install one of two new solar arrays. 👨‍🚀🚀

Fondly remembering Jim McDivitt, born 94 years ago #today. McDivitt flew to space on Gemini IV and Apollo 9, and then went on to take senior management positions in the Apollo Program.

You don’t find Mars by finding the Beehive in the middle of Cancer, you find Cancer by finding the Beehive near Mars.

Yogi? Bonanza King? Hogwallow Flats?

How do rocks and other features studied by our Mars rovers like @MarsCuriosity and @NASAPersevere get their sometimes unusual names? One of our mission team members explains:

When @NASAWebb took a look at an ultra-hot Jupiter, it found traces of water and different temperatures at different levels of atmosphere! go.nasa.gov/42aAivX

i suppose the exclamation mark might be for a water signature because I would think temperature differences at different elevations would be expected.

Hooked on Cape Cod 😍🪝

Hey pass it along to people whoever make decisions to get the hell off twitter. Elon used twitter to manipulate the Turkish election becauae people didnt know it was a weapon.

NASA knows twitter is a far right weapon. NASA must get off twitter.
