fail2ban has one core maintainer github.com/fail2ban/fail2ban and he has only 3 Github sponsors github.com/sebres

WTF

I can't even comprehend how many servers are protected by fail2ban, how many compromises are avoided, how many people who run hobby things all the way up to major sites that get to sleep soundly every night... because of this single project.

Mostly used as a deterant to getting their horns hooked into fencing. That was the reason most folks I've heard of looking for goats with no horns, or they 'de-bud' baby kids who show the beginnings of horns ASAP.
in reply to Muse

We kept them getting hooked up in fencing by duct taping a 3' long 2x4 across their horns. It stayed on way better than pool noodles.

FVWM The King Of The Window Manger Forks #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/0fsmKC_CxNA
in reply to Brodie Robertson

It's an interesting one for sure, I remember first being introduced to it when some guy in the unixporn discord was showing off his set up and he started scrolling the screen. My mind was blown away by that.
in reply to Brodie Robertson

FVWM is/was great. I started using more or less when it started and I've used it as recently as 2022 on some custom embedded "carputer" type devices. Totally themeable/strippable/placeable.

Would like to see a #wayland version but... probably won't happen.

Had a stint of using #afterstep for a number of years. On an Intel Pentium dual P90 homebuilt. Ha!

Ha really? I mean, I sympathize. All my papers are Markdown disguised as Latex by pandoc.

Muy a favor de esta preciosidad sobre la #internet que nos merecemos que ha publicado hoy @sursiendo ❤️‍🩹💝 sursiendo.org/2024/07/cambiar-…

I've published an essay that begins to sketch the legal thinking necessary for what I refer to as "non-reformist media reforms". Ultimately, we must make the case for affirmative policy interventions that prioritize our informational and communicative needs over capitalist imperatives and libertarian logics. This requires building a public service media (independent, participatory, democratic) system based on a positive-rights paradigm.

And posting the stupidest picture like this making them look like hackerman or some stupid crap.

Oh yeah, good one!

well it does also look fricking cool. So much visual information in a terminal window? Yes please. Windows got nothing on that

“Feudalism” was always caricature of what medieval governance actually was, but in the digital era we have adopted that caricature. The acceptance of unaccountable admins spread through our networks and is now bleeding into our politics.

Why can't more journalists reporting on "AI" straightforwardly say "This is bad, actually"? Case in point: In this article juxtaposing the grandiose claims of OpenAI et al with the massive environmental footprint of LLMs, Goldman still has to include this weird AI optimism:

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

thanks for being specific. I read too many headlines as "it's now free" when it has been free for two decades...
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Marathon 1, 2, and Infinity were a huge part of my early teens. I still love the story and vibe. It makes me wish Halo and Destiny were a little grittier.

I feel like I only found them because Bungie had claimed the super-weird niche of being a Mac-first software company and my dad would only buy Apple.

I think a lot of people missed out since they were on PC. And now it's finally on Steam 😂 👴
