"If there’s ever a definition of a company that got too big — so big it basically owns and operates the web — then surely it’s Google."

US courts declared Google an illegal monopoly; Could this be a first win for our collective #digitalprivacy ?

I think this article barely scatches the surface of the issue with Google. I recommend The YouTube Effect to see the problem with just YouTube, let alone wider Google. Android is a whole world of competition problems too.

So let's say that we cultivate the most ethically minded CS graduates ever, and then they go off and work for [insert whatever tech company you find most objectionable] - then what? Will they know what to do? What CAN they do?

I've been asking myself this question for a while. Starting to tackle it... this new paper is a first step.

I just wish there was a better filtering so I get Linux native only and those that are playable thanks to proton should be marked and displayed if selected option to see "proton" games.
Today when I say I want Linux only I get loads of ms-windows stuff which not even verified with proton.

Welsh Government Commits to Making Lying in Politics Illegal

"The Labour-led Welsh government has committed to introduce “globally pioneering” legislation that would in effect make lying in politics there illegal.

"Members of the Senedd described it as a historic moment that would combat the “existential threat” that lying in politics poses to democracy."

Raygun is now Australia's most famous dancer. What does she reveal about our attitudes toward dance?

"Why do Australians feel that dance is mainly for performance, rather than participation? We get up and sing tunelessly at karaoke, but shy away from dancing in public. The most recent arts participation report from Creative Australia shows that while one in six Australians engage with music, only one in ten Australians regularly dance. It seems we’re just not a nation of recreational dancers."

Perhaps toxic masculinity?

There’s a powerful moment that happens every time you build your own PC. After your chosen components are slotted into place, every connection is double-checked, and each wire is neatly tucked away, you close the case and power on your new machine. Then you (hopefully) see that first loading screen, as a proud sense of ownership washes over you. It can be an addicting experience, but until last week I’d never enjoyed that experience with a laptop...
