Contrast that with Mastodon, where people fight against TheBadSpace, hidden replies are a thing, and folks don't believe Black users about abuse.

Marketing is deeply abused in our digital age. I'm tired of the manipulations, misinformation, and disinformation. On the otherhand I want to know when something I do like/need is available: such as new episodes of Star Trek, or soaps that don't include colours or fragrances that cause me to break out into itchy hives.
I've just stumbled across Trust Web Times which specialises in making people aware of abuses in marketing, as well as pointing out ways to market with integrity. The use case discussed here is a bit different.
You can tag a non-follower in your post, then set the post to followers-only, making it so that the person you mentioned can see your post, your followers can pile on, and nobody else gets to witness this.
There really is no reason for this functionality, a followers-only post should not be shown to people who are not followers.
