Should Linux Users Hate Apple As Much As Microsoft? #YouTube #Linux youtu.be/7Q9GHbqBeTw
in reply to Brodie Robertson

As an Ex Mac user (from MacOS Mojave to Ventura on a 2019 MacBook Pro)
Here's what I feel

Apple doesnt get enough crap thrown at them cus their software is only on their own hardware

After using MacOS and iOS for 4-5 years, The software even tho is very limiting is more or less smooth and well made, not to say that shit doesnt break, it might but its pretty stable now, given how macos is an immutable system now and with snapshots to back it up, sandboxing etc etc

We are living in the corporate age of documentary: "It has become almost impossible to sort works of art or journalism from glorified reality TV or public-relations exercises." vulture.com/article/tv-documen…

seems like a lot of what we calll art today was exactly that then it was produced. “Reality painting” and/or a PR exercise. Make the subject or purchaser feel or look good.

Some was art for art's sake of course.

What a lovely shade of orange

wouldn't it be funny if-.. no, it couldn't be

but maybe, let's have a peek...

in reply to gigabecquerel

Well fuck me, apparently this even made it into the news.
Of course they're making up stuff, saying my geiger counter reading meant 11.75 Bq(‽)
That's not how it works, a Geiger counter doesn't tell you the activity of something by holding it on there.

Went back to take some better readings:
Standing next to the wall it's 0.1 to 0.15 uSv/h
On contact it's up to 0.5 uSv/h
A ludlum 44-9 reads around 100 kcpm on contact, hottest spot was 200 kcpm, almost all of that is beta.

In order to find dangerous hydrogen fuel leaks back in the Apollo days, NASA employees used the "broom method" of holding a broom out in front of themselves to see if it caught fire – now hydrogen-sensing tape is used. shop.minimuseum.com/blogs/cool…
in reply to kottke.org

I think something like this is also used to spot high-pressure steam leaks. When the broom handle gets chopped, there's your leak.

Why did G.W. Bush decide to go back to the Moon?
Did he think there is oil on the Moon? Did he want to make sure the Moon isn't made out of cheese? Did he want to build a torture prison on the Moon? Did he want to dig a hole there and hide trillions of dollars of DOD budget? I'm full of questions.
