DEM L 190 looks like #NewYearsEve fireworks! ๐ŸŽ†

This supernova remnant was also voted our Twitter audience's favorite Hubble image from 2022. Good choice!

DEM L 190 is 160,000 light-years away, and made of the debris from a large star's death. For more: go.nasa.gov/3WXpb7p

It's been a big year for NASAโ€”and in 2023, we're returning our first asteroid sample to Earth, sending @NASAAero breakthroughs to the skies, and announcing the #Artemis II crew that will orbit the Moon.

The site that did a defamation takedown on my video in the UK has told me they've requested the hit to be removed.

So now I just have to wait for YouTube to fully restore it.

wow, thatโ€™s incredible. Youโ€™re not having good luck latelyโ€ฆ

Do you have a PeerTube instance for your videos?

@steamdeckspree anyone is free to republish this one to spread the word ๐Ÿ‘

I love how UoPeople pushes Firefox to it's students.

And before that, they talk about LibreOffice. I'm happy to see that.

For anyone in the UK who can't see my recent video warning people off the scam website, because they got it blocked in the UK, it's on TILVids: tilvids.com/w/sx3oWxzUqQeHDe3pโ€ฆ
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

It makes US defamation laws look reasonable in comparison. And that's one hell of an accomplishment!

The scam site steamdeck . info is trying to bury my video on them. I will be fighting this. This isnโ€™t right. It is a very clear Steam / Steam Deck scam site I am warning people about.

@awoodland I imagine it's probably best not to share if you're still in contact with them and don't want to burn bridges, but I don't see how an email footer could be used to demand confidentiality any more than it could be used to demand five bucks.
in reply to Damon L. Wakes

@DamonWakes @awoodland lmao i will never do any kind of partner / business with a "store" like this, there's no worry about burning bridges, it's likely one person and was only set up recently

Elon Musk Becomes First Person Ever to Lose $200 Billion bloomberg.com/news/articles/20โ€ฆ

I'm reading The Elements of Eloquence by Mark Forsyth. Many hearty belly laughs to be had!
I've just read the section on "Transferred Epithets" and came across this gem of an example:

"It's astonishing how often epithets are transferred and how little we notice. Nobody ever stops to think about a disabled toilet, and why and how it has been disabled. Perhaps the flush has been sabotaged or the U-bend deliberately blocked...P.G. Wodehouse was the great master of this technique...Wodehouse's best for my considered money, was: 'His eyes widened and an astonished piece of toast fell from his grasp.' The idea of astonished toast is just too much, and we let out a surprised chortle."

I will probably be driving to Research for a cuppa now and again throughout January. But it's not the same as taking a nice walk through the park, ending with a little something nice before walking home.

Beware of Steam Deck SCAM sites, and don't fall for it like JSAUX did.

youtu.be/wKZ3k2zutBo

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

I should point out, JSAUX haven't even given a public statement of a "woops we partnered with a clear scam site" they just removed their retweet to hide what happened and not even a little "thanks for stopping us looking like fools".
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

i mean... jsaux was just another amazon keysmash brand name who happened to luck into the "amazon's choice" slot for "steam deck dock" and have been frantically trying to learn how a brand name should act.
