(in Scooby voice) "Aaarooo?"

Yeah, I got the 1st Rift consumer (not beta) release. Really loved where that was going.

Then Milquetoast Palpatine bought it and completely ruined everything.

Got by for a couple years by having a block in my router that made facebook unreachable. Now it's just a fancy brick.

Been really struggling to get the Valve Index working under Linux personally... First I had issues due to steam being installed as a flatpak, and had to install it just using the .deb, then had issues with kernel and driver version compatibility, now having issues with using it as an audio source with pipewire as it doesn't become an audio source unit you start the SteamVR application, and Pop!_OS doesn't become aware of it... It's a NIGHTMARE...

PR: "Hey Gaming On Linux check out this game *loads of PR speak*"

Me: "Oh cool, what's the status of Linux and Steam Deck support?"

PR: "We don't support either sorry."

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

"Asked for free publicity, software doesn't even install properly on my system, 0/5 stars"

I thought you had a service agreement stuck on your mail server that the sender has to agree on GPL all games and provide a Linux native binary of them too if connecting to your mail server.😜

How far into the game before the time restriction is over by taking the exam? I've got nearly the entire series up until the PS4 games. I only have the Ryza series on Switch for modern ones.

Feels like a milestone: I don’t think I’ve changed an app in my iPhone dock since we turned off the lights on Vesper.

As some of you may have heard, Tweetbot is currently unable to authenticate with Twitter which currently has a huge impact on our business. Only mentioning this because we are going to be busy putting out fires and trying to get Ivory on the App Store ASAP. So it will be harder to answer your questions. However you can read our current roadmap for Ivory here: tapbots.com/ivory/

Also, here are 1000 more testflight openings for now. Thanks for all of your support! 🙏

Interesting finding from @vectorgen regarding co-infection with both Zika virus (flavivirus) and Mayaro virus (alphavirus):

"Cocirculation of several arboviruses in the same geographic region provides an impetus to study the impacts of multiple concurrent infections
[...]
Whereas Mayaro virus was largely unaffected by coinfection, it had a negative impact on infection and dissemination rates for Zika virus compared to single infection scenarios."

Those are some sweet specs. Though, if it's "up to" 10 hours of battery life, then it's likely significantly less under load.

I am a little bit curious. What is the current status of drivers for Radeon-based graphic cards on Linux? My last experience is from 2018 and those were crappy and unstable (I am talking about fglrx). So far my stance is that I am not going to have Radeon card on my own free will and my own money. Were the things improved? Shall I give them the chance?

Some danish sailing women showed up at the animal rescue with some endangered tortoises they took from Antigua a year ago. And now they said that they are going to the Galapagos and want us to take care of them, k, thankyou!

Turns out it's super illegal to do shit like this! And also just such an oblivious, massively priveledged way to live or to treat living things (especially for an animal that lives for quite some time!).

in reply to Andy Quitmeyer

So now the animal rescue gets to take care of the baby tortoises for the next 50(?) Years? Yay 🙁

Also they got the names of these tortoises they are going to abandon tattooed on their feet?

in reply to Andy Quitmeyer

I'm horrified and perplexed by the string of decisions that these sailing ladies made :ohno: Are they facing fines? I hope they understand the reasons for the laws the broke.

Twitter has apparently shut down access to several of the most popular 3rd-party Twitter clients, including Twitterrific and Tweetbot. No official word on whether it's a bug or a policy, but either way: so dumb. Erratic clown car company. blog.iconfactory.com/2023/01/s…

in reply to kottke.org

I enjoyed the early years of Twitter when so many clients and services flourished. I scaled my engagement back significantly when Twitter screwed the developer community that had grown up around their platform. It appears the final nail in the coffin has been hammered in. What an amazing legacy to abandon in stages over a decade. All in on the fediverse now.
