yes because they have infinite customization and can be trained by a user. This allows many use cases that are harder or even impossible with closed proprietary models. Though these use cases are often illegal.
Of course! Open source AI can be just as shit as proprietary AI, and at least as likely to be misused and unethically applied! It's also capable of wasting resources just as effectively, and perhaps moreso!
if some guys at google have intern discussions about it and decide they should set on open source AI because it's already faster developing i think that tells a lot
I wish reflection Llama is trully open source. Right now it's just a manipulation. It's not open and never will be due to the costs and nature of the company standing behind it.

It will then be up to each company, when implementing its AI model, to add its own proprietary parts.
Otherwise I think a community opensource based AI is the way to build and grow these technologies
