In the first week of July, I'll be building a temporary art pavilion in the hills of Wicklow at Knockree Hostel. It will be built from and dedicated to the plant known in Wicklow as furze (aka gorse, aiteann, whin and many other things).
There'll be a wekend of events including a walk-and-talk with an ecologist, a map workshop with a planning researcher, and some activities making charcoal and paint from the plant. Schedule coming soon.

Tomorrow at 7pm in Roundwood, Wicklow I will give a talk for Heritage Week 'From Furze to Flame: Drawing Stories From Our Uplands'. This will be about fire management practices in the past in Ireland, and how I made art from research about this.

Next month August 20th I'll be giving a talk at Wicklow Uplands Forum in Roundwood Wicklow (Ireland). The talk will be a poetic reflection on fire and culture, and we will screen two short research films about burning aiteann (gorse).
