That would be amazing. I don't overclock or any of that but it would be nice if utilites could talk to the newer RDNA cards to control fan speed. There is no reason for these cards to idle at 36 to 38c and jump to 47c while watching Youtube.

It’s really become a thing for bands to go on tour to play their classic albums from start to finish (e.g. Death Cab, Postal Service). When did this start? I found this 10-year-old Reddit thread which mentioned Weezer, Green Day, and The Pixies. Anyone? reddit.com/r/LetsTalkMusic/com…
in reply to kottke.org

In 2014, I saw Face to Face play their first three albums front to back, three nights in a row. Each night a record.

Kudos to the European Research Council (#ERC, @ERC_Research):

"To keep up with the times, the focus on journal publication #metrics should be dropped, in favour of achievements that give a more rounded picture…In line with @coarassessment's recommendations, the ERC’s new rules shifted away from the traditional listing of research posts held and papers published, to a four-page narrative curriculum vitae."

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

does Timmy not realize that the %30 cut funds meant of the projects that BENEFIT the customer, look at Proton, the Steam Deck, community market for Steam inventory items.
Tim should compare that to what anti consumer things, exclusivity contracts, free weekly games, what's that all funded by, oh right, those Fortnite vbucks sales, which were, conveniently for Tim and Epic Games, raised just a few months ago.
There's plenty more, should one want to go digging for more.

Yeah, knowing I have Chronic Kidney Disease - because damage from the two stones to the kidneys is permanent is bad, but knowing my creatine levels are at a not as dire situation is good.

in reply to Brodie Robertson

that’s actually a really cool trick — the many with-usages (like locks!) are a huge boon to understandable code.

And while it took me 25 lines of code to implement this with with wisp ( hg.sr.ht/~arnebab/wisp/browse/… ) it’s only Python where that’s the default way to do things.

(there is no superfluous with in the previous paragraph ☺)

Being able to add stuff like this to the language cleanly is why I started to move my personal projects from #Python to #Guile #Scheme in 2013, though.

About a year ago Australian radio station ABC Classic FM played this song and asked their audience: is this a hit or a miss? I was in my car screaming, "It's a hit!" When they played it again a day or two ago, I was awash in tears. It is soooo beautiful.

In 1998 at the Grammy awards Luciano Pavarotti was meant to sing Nessun Dorma. He called the organisers forty minutes before he had to be on stage, saying that he was too ill to perform. Someone came up with the idea to ask Aretha Franklin if she could substitute for Pavarotti. She said, "Yes". This is the result.
