EmuDeck 2.3 Beta brings a new unified UI and multi language support gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/emud…

#SteamDeck #Emulation #EmuDeck #Linux

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I stopped using Emudeck a while ago because I couldn't find a way to turn off the touch pad radial menu that I kept hitting on accident. I ended up setting up the emulators and Steam ROM Manager manually. While it's not for everyone, it was the only way I could get things just the way I wanted them. Besides, tinkering is the best part of setting up any device IMO

if I had been out for a laptop, I would go for one with USB4, at least #TUXEDO has a few models right now.

Something I would really like to see is a comparison between the different brands of Linux laptops, what is good and what ain't on them, like the touchpad.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

This is a really sexy looking laptop, as long as it's cooled properly that chip should be pretty darn powerful too.

Just a heads up:

If you got the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, it still shows up for download. You have to go to your purchases, bundles, that bundle, then you can search for it and download it.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Well, god damn, that's gross. Sounds like Netflix is on its way to further ruin the video game market. It sucks when companies shift their model to video games just because of the money. We have enough greedy companies as it is.

Hah, today I learnt that the wireframe 'CGI' in Escape from New York, used for Snake Plissken to make a stealthy glider entry into the lawless prison island by air, was actually 'faked' by building a model of Manhattan covered in reflective tape. In 1981 this was the cheaper solution for a movie with limited budget

Artist Chelo depicts what we see - and what we don't see - on social media. I like the full-circle nature of this comic.

Made some hot sauce with mostly store bought habaneros. I would have preferred to use only my ghost or carolina reaper peppers, but the deer ate them. I have no idea how they could stand it, but we had a very dry summer and apparently they were desperate for food.

Hi all. I'm creating a wiki of public policies for the enabling and support of worker cooperatives and would like to adopt the evergreen tree logo that we have for social.coop (social-coop-media.ams3.cdn.dig…) but could not find anything in our online resources about licenses.

Does anyone know where the original one comes from/who made it?

Thank you and blessings.

It feels like we haven't done a Future Proof Plays stream in a long-ass time, but we're back! Gregory is live playing John William Evelyn's "The Collage Atlas" over on Twitch, a game with art that seems to be entirely pen and ink. I'm a sucker for that aesthetic. I still think about The Mind's Eclipse regularly, and I played it years ago. Anyway, come hang out with us!

Italian 'sì', Spanish 'sí' and many more Romance words for "yes" come from Latin 'sīc', which meant "so; thus; like that". In Popular Latin it got an extra meaning: "yes", born out of the sense "like that", i.e. "like you said".

French 'oui' has a completely different origin. It comes from Old French 'oïl', a univerbation of 'o il', literally "yes, it (is/does/has etc.)".

'O' stemmed from Latin 'hoc' (this), which became 'òc' (yes) in Occitan, whose name was derived from this very word.

I nabbed about 200m of fibre optic cable from a skip. Does anyone know any fibre optic experiments or things to do?

Or any idea if anyone would have a use for this (like schools/hospitals)?

in reply to Fionnáin

shooting of the cuff here but if we can't just find fibre on the street and use it then what good is it really? great to understand more if mere mortals can casually fibre or not
in reply to d1

@decentral1se you are speaking my language here. But I've already started playing with it and am a bit mystified. It doesn't work like conductive cable. It doesn't carry electric charge, but light. And you need something that can receive light at the end of the cable. It makes it very difficult to play with, but not impossible I'm sure.

But I tend to agree with your point on use. If only for speed then this feels like a material without substance.

I wish this video included a mention of Buster Keaton and his movie "One Week". One week was the time Keaton's character was expecting to take in order to build a new kit home! Fascinating video, nonetheless!

On this trip I probably won't have time to detour up towards Mt. Whitney (the Alabama Hills are at the base of Mt. Whitney.) And I'll only be in that are if it cools down enough for me to be willing to drive across Death Valley (otherwise I will go a bit further north (where it is higher and cooler) and cross the White Mountains of California near the Bristle Cone pine forest - world's oldest living trees.) I'll be heading up towards Mammoth Lakes and Tioga Pass (into Yosemite). I am planning a longer trip to the Sierra - near Lake Tahoe, at the beginning of October. (The eastern Sierra in October can be really great, with plenty of fall color in the canyons.)

my mistake was installing pandoc. This is a pacman -Syu.
