tremendous story, thanks for sharing.

I posted one about a letter found in a library book a while back. Not nearly as dramatic but still an interesting find: mograph.social/@ephemeral/1050…

I had a hard time picking the piece I wanted to share first, but I think I decided on a good one :artblackcat:
Say hi to Galactic Cat!

#MastoArt #DigitalArt #abstract #cat #cosmos #galaxy #space

I wanted to share the first #pride series I made. I made so very many versions of this.

A lot of my work ends up just being stuff I'd wear on a shirt. And then I try be be inclusive if the design calls for it. So it really ends up simplistic sometimes, but it's an aesthetic I like.

#MastoArt #lgbtqia #gaymer

>>Obligatory self promotion: I do have these in my Society 6 shop, and I added my Art Links to my profile where you can find all my stuff<<

Want some application suggestions or tips & tricks for #linux? We share these kinds of picks each week on #DestinationLinux!

Globalization, Greed and Reality

the U.S. happily gave up domestic production because, as the economists will tell you, the price was right. Cheaper labor and fewer regulations of all sorts produced commodities so cheap the profit margins were simply irresistible to the “investment class.”
When the global pandemic trashed those much-lauded “supply chains” it didn’t take a genius to foresee the result. But Wall Street’s “Masters of the Universe” ignored the (obvious) because of the enormous profits flowing into their bank accounts and CEO salaries. Suddenly, the few domestic manufacturing industries still operating couldn’t get the parts they needed — like semiconductors – to produce their goods.

Donors, like voters, support those who support their interests. It is entirely legal. That is how the system works.
Is it corrupt? Only if corruption can be legal.
in reply to tom grzyb

Only if corruption can be legal. And of course it is. Corruption is "conflict of interest". This is indeed legal corruption.

This is Democrats’ most morally corrupt gamble

cnn.com/2022/08/02/politics/de…

They are simultaneously engaged in a strategy to pump up Trump-backing, election-denying candidates in key primary races with the aim of winning moderate voters in November.

Win or lose, they are using Democratic donors' money to spread messages of hate.

in reply to tom grzyb

Oh, I forgot - we cannot afford to criticize anything the Democrats might do. Sooo F'n sorrry.

Re-#introduction after coming back to this instance (hopefully for keeps). 😅

Hi! 👋

Like others, the birdsite used to be my primary platform, and now I'm seeing if the Fediverse can fill that void. I'm a big fan of western animation, and I'm hoping that the thriving #MastoArt community will eventually lead to more activity in the related hashtags (#amphibia, #bigcitygreens, #closeenough, #craigofthecreek, #owlhouse, #summercampisland, etc.). I'm also a former indie game developer, current professional Web Developer, and I tinker with #rust as my new favorite language.

in reply to Esmail EL BoB :dinosaur:

hey there! XMPP has always been causing issues because all the different servers either use different syntaxes for their vcard implementation, or don't send vcard data at all.

I looked into it and it appears this is yet another vcard syntax! But the data is there so I got it working locally. I will try and release a new library and keyoxide version either today or tomorrow to fix this for everyone!

(As to the fingerprint short version, I guess we could support that, will look into)

in reply to Keyoxide

Hmm, weird. I use snikket which is just Prosŏdy with modules already loaded in it, So it should be fine with vcards.

oh they have docker-compose...that's like a green light for me

Cognitive decline linked to ultraprocessed food, study finds

cnn.com/2022/08/01/health/ultr…

This is lousy science, in that they do not even define "ultraprocessed".

in reply to tom grzyb

Ultraprocessed foods are defined as “industrial formulations of food substances (oils, fats, sugars, starch, and protein isolates) that contain little or no whole foods and typically include flavorings, colorings, emulsifiers, and other cosmetic additives,”

That should not include ice cream or french fries. French fries are almost 100% potato and vegetable oil, these are “whole foods”. Vegetable oil is not significantly processed. Ice Cream is almost entirely milk and cream - with a good dose of sugar - also not highly processed.

The notion of "industrial formulation" is rather vague also. What if you eat home-made ice cream? And hot french fries are most frequently fried directly at the place of purchase - though you can fry potatoes at home also...

in reply to tom grzyb

Those in the study who ate the most ultraprocessed foods were "more likely to be younger, women, White, had higher education and income, and were more likely to have never smoked, and less likely to be current alcohol consumers," the study found. - ah, those can be the reasons for the cognitive decline, right there. Seriously!

Chances of climate catastrophe are ignored, scientists say

apnews.com/article/science-cli…

The scientists aren’t saying that worst is going to happen. They say the trouble is no one knows the likelyhood

in reply to tom grzyb

Good risk analyses consider both what’s most likely and what’s the worst that could happen, study authors said.
in reply to tom grzyb

The worst that can happen is if we continue to do little-to-nothing. How likely is that? ;-((

Harris cites climate ‘crisis,’ pushes $1B for floods, storms

apnews.com/article/floods-wild…

One Billion to address the results, not to address the cause?

in reply to tom grzyb

_“The devastation is real. The harm is real. The impact is real,″ Harris said. “And we are witnessing it in real time.″ _

Not real enough to prevent, though.

in reply to tom grzyb

“My city doesn’t debate whether the climate is changing, we simply look at the ground on a sunny day and see flooding,” Gelber said.

That is the problem, idiot.

You know what okay I'm dumb and stupid, probably never know how to turn on a computer but you have no rights to insult me like this, so yes you not only change how gitea deals with gpg but also treat me bad because I was not aware of it? fuck you gitea team
in reply to Esmail EL BoB :dinosaur:

Okay now they removed me from discord server because I said they are dicks for not leaving a big notice in github or anything because they changed where gitea looks for gpg now
in reply to Esmail EL BoB :dinosaur:

Even in their blog they posted the update about gpg without single gpg keyword inside it: blog.gitea.io/2022/07/gitea-1.…

so if I'm a user who was not aware about gitea changed it's config folder I will search for "gpg" or "pgp" not "config", goddammit people

No single small clue for me to search upon and call me "I do not know how gpg works" fuck this shit, Only clue I found is inside their wiki (after updating it later) and when he mentioned GNUPGHOME in discord and nothing else
