This is really interesting about AMD's 7900 GPU series, seems like the Vapor chamber design is causing the hot spot temperature issue. Be interesting to see if AMD does a recall.

Will GOG pay attention? I'd start buying games there again, if they'd just give Galaxy to Linux.

I got an Xbox 1914 controller for my Linux box, it wouldn't pair with Linux until it's firmware was updated in Windows first..

Not snow on the beach, but these winter photos taken by astronauts aboard the @Space_Station are definitely weird and beautiful. 🎶 ❄️ #HappyNewYear

Some dancing oak trees for New Year’s Eve.

I hope everyone has an awesome evening, whatever you’re doing.

I will be happily tucked up in bed well before midnight, but I know it’s a tough time for others. I’ve been in a dark place in years past, so I know what it can be like.

Just don’t ever feel like you are alone.

Tomorrow is new year; a chance for a fresh start. It’s a chance to find joy in the little moments that make up each day.

"Bring back personal blogging." I mean, absolutely. But...this is also the 78th time I've read this exact article since 2007 and I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen. theverge.com/23513418/bring-ba…
in reply to kottke.org

While other similar writeups have addressed it (more or less successfully) this article doesn’t mention a huge problem: discovery and subscription. RSS alone won’t work in a world where barely anyone uses it, and while there are many theoretical solutions, there are few practical, accessible ones yet. Personally, I slowly stopped blogging because in comparison, social media had a wider and more immediate reach.

Welp.

In this new year may we all learn to be a little kinder, a little more helpful, and a little more able to laugh. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We went.

For years, we have been preparing for long-term human exploration of the Moon. In 2022, we witnessed the launch of @NASA_SLS, @NASA_Orion's trek to the Moon, and a splashdown back to Earth that future astronauts will experience.

2023, look out. We are #Artemis.
#NASAArtemis #Artemis

Light that left its star on the first day of 2022, is today 5.88 trillion miles (9.46 trillion km) away. Imagine how far you can go in 2023. go.nasa.gov/3Z4hKwP
#NASAExoplanets
in reply to NASA

The same distance + the distance light travels in 1 day given that 2023 is a leap year.

10 5x88 x 10^12
+ 6 x 10^12
= 16.5 x 10^12 miles

Ring in the new year! 🪐

@NASAHubble took several photos of Saturn from 1996 to 2000, observing how its rings appear differently from our perspective as the gas giant makes its 29-year-long journey around the Sun.

Hubble redeemed!

Following the first Hubble servicing mission earlier in December, galaxy M100 was imaged with the new WFPC-2 camera #OTD in 1993, showing that the defect in @NASAHubble's mirror had been corrected.
