Liblast website has a completely new, slick look courtesy of ecogex!

Thank you! This is awesome!

in reply to Fabrix.xm

Yeah, we might also want to make a special cropped version that doesn't use unseen pixels.
We'd probably need two different ones fro desktop and mobile though or just based on the viewing screen aspect ratio.

It does seem to load and play fine on my OnePlus 5T, but I expect it could be a problem.

The video is also 98 MB so actually not much smaller than the game itself 😁

We definitely should optimize a bit.

in reply to Liblast

I actually really like the wide video. It should scale properly for smaller devices, but I think it looks fantastic on my desktop.

Born in 1750, Caroline Herschel worked as assistant to her astronomer brother William. But she also made her own discoveries of nebulae, stars & 8(!) comets.

In 1787, King George III employed Caroline as her brother's assistant, including a small salary that made her one of the first women paid for their contributions to #science.

Caroline submitted over 550 stars to the existing star catalog & received honorary membership in the Royal Society. space.com/17439-caroline-hersc… #history #HistoryRemix

Not to mention she would sit at an open window even through the winter to log sightings William called down from his observing station. I've read that on at least one occasion the ink in her bottle froze because it was so cold.

Shutdown of mastodon.au instance is imminent (a.k.a., three months)!

And mastodon.au admin @mb cites “lack of assistance from @Gargron” as the deciding factor.

I’m investigating further.

Please migrate to another instance as soon as you can!

Between #Mastodonau & #Mastodonlol, it's a good thing #Mastodon gGmbH has put an end to using Mastodon in new domain names without explicit licensing.

The tech media will be having a field day with this soon

I wonder how many other significant instances are ran by people with personality trait issues &their users &their content is at the whims of unreasonable people, not suited for the responsibilities and sensibilities required.

TechCrunch's @Sarahp reports on the continued growth of Mastodon.

As she notes, Mastodon had 180,000 new app installs in January compared to 11,000 new app installs in September 2022.

That's a big jump.

What she might also want to look into is how many app installs occurred during this past week: ~121,000, which looks to be outpacing January.

Part of the reason for this growth? Perhaps changes to joinmastodon.org.
