New Steam Controller 2 and VR controller designs got leaked
Valve did a bit of a woops here, as they recently accidentally leaked the designs for what looks like their upcoming Steam Controller 2 and a new VR controller that is likely to come with the long leaked Deckard VR headset.Liam Dawe (GamingOnLinux)
We’ll have to wait for the size and thickness, and the angle of the grips, but this will probably not work for me. Symmetrical sticks placed in the middle of the controller, with touchpads on the way where my fat hands will likely activate them all the time…
Sounds like a recipe for thumb and wrist pain for me personally :/
On that controller, it seems like the opposite
@BrodieOnLinux Haha yeah, we’ll see. Ergonomics isn’t an exact science; and doesn’t always work for everyone: AirPods fall out the ears of a fair few people, the PS4 controller was a nightmare for some, and some think the Xbox one controller isn’t good, the Duke managed to get into production, etc..
It can be an awesome controller for a bunch of people, and a nightmare for others 😀
There’s also the issue that my thumbs often bump into one another with symmetrical sticks on a PS controller, because the sticks are too close

Quick read for morning train ride. Poor methods leading to higher false positives, and selecting for number of output leads to poor methods.
Makes sense, but how would this apply to independent/amateur research? IMHO we need good methods beyond tools.

Huge data centre in #Barcelona #catalonia will use 15 times more water than promised, companies have failed to register as "major users" techpolicy.press/why-we-dont-k… - why isn't this being talked about? An absolute disgrace, given the state of #catalunya water reserves.
And not just water - the datacentres alone will take the power requirements of 20k homes, impacting Catalonia's efforts to decarbonise.

Dominion Power claims that Virginians’ power usage keeps climbing, so they need to build new power plants that we’ll all pay for with rate hikes. Forced to release internal records, it turns out that the only increase is coming from building data centers.

X's legal filing in the InfoWars bankruptcy case is both batshit crazy and also what you'd expect. It asserts that X owns every account, can do whatever it wants with them, and can inject itself into legal proceedings that have nothing to do with it.
This is why it's incredibly important that people invest in platforms that they own, and move toward federated/decentralized/portable, noncorporate social media as rapidly as possible
Measured and well thought out.
