Hey fedi, so I have this cheap doohickey for using computers away from a desk. It's got a touch pad and keys and is absolutely the right solution for the problem
But it sucks. The keys start bad and if used too much stop registering reliably, the touch pad ain't great, and it keeps losing connection to the dongle despite it being like 8 feet away
Is there some kind of premium version of these that exists? So far I've only ever seen the terrible dirt cheap ones for sale anywhere
(If you don't mind plz boost for reach I am *desperate*)
EDIT: to be clear the handheld/gamepad-like form factor is what makes this work so a more traditionally keyboard shaped device with an additional trackpad isn't really a suitable replacement
Is there a reason to be honest that will actually stop us from lying?
In his book, "The (Honest) Truth About Dishonesty," Dan Ariely offers evidence that we believe we're honest — even though we lie or cheat — by only doing so in little ways.Alex Lickerman M.D. (Psychology Today)

I find honesty to be like a good credit score - it opens doors to opportunities.
I tend to hew towards honesty, in part because I'm not good at lying. But I do try to use colored words and phrases to induce a bit of subtle (or not so subtle) leanings - or rather more like flavorings - to things I say or write.
I was surprised (and appalled) when I was on the ICANN board when I was accused of being too honest!!!!

Before you plug in your new Timex/Sinclair 1000, please take a moment to think about this exciting new adventure. We want to assure you that:
1. You will enjoy computing.
2. You will find it easy as well as enjoyable.
3. You shouldn’t be afraid of the computer. You are smarter than it is. So is your parakeet, for that matter.
4. You will make mistakes as you learn. The computer will not laugh at you.
5. Your mistakes will not do any harm to the computer. You can’t break it by pushing the “wrong” button.
6. You are about to take a giant step into the future. Everyone will soon be using computers in every part of their daily lives, and you will have a head start.

Super cis perspective here, but I've come to find optional pronoun marking to be a really useful form of quasi-universal design—once again, a gift in which the struggles led by marginalized communities make life better for everyone. Quite often one just really can't assume to know someone's pronouns, especially if their name is from a different culture from yours or (like many names) is nonbinary. It never hurts to get some extra information.

in reply to It's FOSS • • •This is a great example how to use Open Source: Ubisoft does not really earn money with Chroma (and therefore does not lose some with open-sourcing it). But as Open Source many gamers can profit from it, and gaming becomes more inclusive.
