Whelp. I thought I’d planted some extra crocosmia bulbs in here but I’m thinking those leaves toward the front do not look like crocosmia leaves.

I’m thinking maybe freesia and iris?

(The wood shavings are from the ladybug deposition. The ladybugs all left.)

The seven on the left have more leaves of various lengths but compact. There might be two kinds of plants on the left, or two varieties growing at different rates. All were planted at the same time.

A hanging planter with about 8 to 10 sprouts a few inches tall and still not recognizable. They are all green. Some have many thin leaves coming up. Some have only a few wider leaves coming up.

I’m considering moving these plants to a spot on the ground. They don’t feel like hanging pot plants, since there’s no hint of a flower yet and they’re probably closer together than they’d prefer. At least they’re not dead?

A hanging planter with two types of plants coming up, four to six of each. One of a more fan shaped arrangement, and the other with a spray of thinner leaves. The pot sits next to a hellebore and an azalea, both of whom might prefer it wasn’t there.

One of the mystery plants (Liatris?) is living its best life in the garden. The other one keeled over immediately.

Waiting patiently to see what the flowers look like!

A floofy green plant with thin leaves curving out in a bunch from the ground. There is a somewhat taller structure on the left side that looks the same but taller. Some small river rocks are positioned around it as a squirrel deterrent.

Taller!

Liatris Plant with at least two stalks covered in many thin leaves the whole way up.

The top of one stalk has something white or pale yellow in the center.

The liatris has these long flower spikes going. Some of the buds are showing a little pink at last. Maybe the bumblebees will start working on opening them.

Flowers at the top of a long parade of buds. The five open bell shaped flowers are small pinkish purple. They have two or three fingery or fluffy bits sticking out of the center with shorter dark bits inside the bells.

The floofening of the liatris continues. It looks a little like Pepe the King Prawn, but purple.
