Ooh. It’s blooming!

Or hatching crustaceans and mollusks.

The liatris has these long flower spikes going. Some of the buds are showing a little pink at last. Maybe the bumblebees will start working on opening them.

The floofening of the liatris continues. It looks a little like Pepe the King Prawn, but purple.

My hydrangeas didn't get the memo that it's fall now. I've seen several other ones around campus doing the same thing. And in general it was a bad year for hydrangeas! Maybe they just mis-timed it

Got some random bulbs that someone dug up and was going to throw out because they weren't blooming. I planted them just to see what would happen -turns out they are, fittingly enough, resurrection lilies! #Bloomscrolling #florespondence

This Queen of the Night cactus belonged to my friend Mark who died exactly two years ago. When he was in palliative care I went to his house to look after the garden and there it was, silently flowering in salute. Every year it does this astonishing intricate thing, right on time. @plants #florespondence

I can't even recall the circumstances now, but sometime in the last year I found an acorn on the ground and shoved it in a pot on a whim. Now apparently I have to figure out what to do with a fucking oak tree.

Welcome to mastodon everyone! I love seeing all this art posted. But we do have some folks on here who don't see well, and they really appreciate it if you add a description to your images. Just briefly what you're showing people, so that they have some idea what they're looking for.

I know sometimes it seems like too much work, and if you can't you can't. But it does make your work accessible to more people, not least because more of us will boost it.

I’ve been learning a bit about this palm that I found at work today doing a beautiful thing. It seems to be a sago palm, and it’s very toxic to dogs, so don’t try this at home. But also, truly, look at this big effort. Cycas revoluta # @plants
