Linton Kirk, one of Scotland’s oldest churches still in use in the Scottish Borders is surplus to Church of Scotland requirements and a local group are attempting to raise the money to buy it foe the community.

An image from some of Scotland's most remote mountains. It's no small feat to get out here, but it's worth it every time.

Made last year when me and Benjamin Maze took a group of awesome clients hiking and wild camping here; we were treated to all manner of brilliant conditions from hail to blue skies. (Join us in September 2026 for the second iteration of our Northwest Highlands photography adventure!)

I'm slowly starting to share more images from my multi-year project "This Land Remembers", an odyssey into the last remaining ancient native woodlands of Scotland (like this one from a brilliant Autumn morning in 2025). I also have an upcoming exhibition at Gallery Photiq this April/May featuring 12 prints from the project, including this image.

Samhain [sow-wen]: the ancient Celtic festival that marks the end of summer and the beginning of winter β€” the moment when Beira the Cailleach, Queen of Winter, regains control over the landscape from the Queen of Summer, Brigid. It also marks the moment when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest and the origins of Halloween. Mountain spirits come to the fore at this time of year.

Always expect the unexpected. What would have been a less than average Timelapse, saved by the sun. I couldn’t be bothered adding title page or music. I might do at some point. The camera battery died on 500 images and missed most of a very nice sunset.

Happy #WorldPhotographyDay !

This is one of my favourite images from last autumn in Scotland's Ancient Caledonian Forest. In the dark of morning, I hiked up this pathless steep sided hill to gain a view over the magnificent glen beyond and was treated to an exceptional sunrise. Amazing to see all these regenerating pine saplings growing on the higher slopes.

"The Sound of Rain", Scotland (2024).

From an early morning scout down on a loch shore, I initially went to see what these small ponds would look like facing in the complete other direction. When I approached on foot, I came over a small crest and was suddenly presented with gorgeous glowing light, the sound of soft rain on the water's surface, a perfectly framed mountain, and a fragment of ancient woodland.

Steinacleit stone circle and cairn (also called Stein-A-Cleit; Siadar; Shader) on the isle of Lewis up on a boggy moor. "This bundle of stones on a low hill above a loch was originally interpreted as being the remains of a large chambered cairn and stone circle." Photos June 2021.

The incredible (and often overlooked) mountain landscape of the Isle of Harris, Scotland. This place is rugged and unvisited, partly because the beaches of the island steal away attention and partly because of its unforgiving character. Many of these areas are fairly unexplored in terms of photography and I'm excited to spend a bit more time doing just that over the coming years.

Been a long time since I made it up a hill so was wondering what I was doing this time last year.

Summit camp up Ben Cruachan, caught a beautiful sunrise.

Mountain Hare - from a stroll up the hills today. It was bitterly cold, but the hares were relaxed and allowed me to get close enough.

Taken with a Canon R5 and RF100-500mm lens.

Always lovely to see in the Highlands Of Scotland.

Loch Shiel at Glenfinnan in the Western Scottish Highlands and another example of being in the right place at the right time to catch a burst of autumnal sunshine, highlighting the colours of the season. Sometimes, luck is on your side!

Edinburgh (overlooking the Water of Leith) in autumn. Picture taken with an oldish phone from the top deck of the bus, sorry for the quality. I thought it looked like a painting.
