Appeareance of images attached to a post

Hello @Friendica Developers @Friendica Support @friendica-dev.mbbit.de/profileโ€ฆ Hello dear community, I would like to discuss with you about the appearance of posts with multiple images on #Friedica. Here is my opinion:
The current way multiple #images are displayed is awful:

Yeah, you saw it by my embedded examples your self. What bothers me most is:

  • It just looks messy (especially when there is a mix of landscape and portrait format)
  • Besides the aesthetics, multiple images take a lot of room (when you do not use an add-on like show more)

My suggestion on which I would love to hear your opinion is to use a grid format like on #mastodon:

I would pitch a suggestion by adding a PR for a (from my point of view) "better" appearance based to this
tutorial. I do not like to use JS in general and would leave it out by determine the suited amount of columns in the backend.

But before I invest time on that, I want to hear your feedback. Thank You!

in reply to Marek Bachmann

The image grid feature is now live in the 2022.12-rc branch.

โค Thank you very much for all the feedback and support! โค

One known issue is that the grid is not generated in "quote shared" post, and I did not find the time to analyze / address it (github.com/friendica/friendicaโ€ฆ).

in reply to Marek Bachmann

Do you have a screenshot showing how this looks like now? ๐Ÿ˜Š
in reply to Hypolite Petovan

I am not able to confirm the issue. On my dev instance, clicking on any image in any of both column starts fancybox correctly (Tested it here: friendica-dev.mbbit.de/displayโ€ฆ).
Can you provide an example? Thank You!
in reply to Marek Bachmann

@Marek Bachmann :friendica: @Grischa Don't worry about it, it's an issue with the fancybox addon specifically, and you need an image grid with two columns, it doesn't affect inline images like you've shared.

The best Linux distribution for gaming in 2023 gamingonlinux.com/2022/12/the-โ€ฆ #Linux #Gaming

@jacobgonzales20 a distribution run by one person is not something I'll ever recommend to people regardless of who does it
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

One exception, from experience: when you have a bleeding-edge gaming hardware.

After months of unsuccessful attempts to make Ubuntu use the hardware properly (incl. following GitHub threads closely), I gave Manjaro a shot and it worked on the very same day (this included switching to the experimental linux kernel). I'll very likely revert back to a Debian-based distro at some point though.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

From my point of view, Paradox interactive is one of my top game producers ๐Ÿ˜€

I have been playing Europa Universalis IV for so many hours for so many years and it is still developed, supported, and extended by DLC ( the main game was released in 2013). Similarly, I have been playing other games such as Crusader Kings II and III, Hearts of Iron 2-4 (I skipped the third part) or now Victoria III.

But I dont have so much free time now...๐Ÿ˜

Great article from @dajb about governance on Mastodon servers. Like social.coop, Friend Camp has started using Loomio to make group consensus decisions around things like non-obvious defederation, and it's working out really well.

dougbelshaw.com/blog/2022/11/2โ€ฆ

I recommend instance admins look into Loomio. Once we have used it a bit more on Friend Camp I am going to post a how-to and best practices for small servers.
