Should Valve make a Steam Controller 2? One that can bring the Steam Deck back from sleep?

This is really interesting about AMD's 7900 GPU series, seems like the Vapor chamber design is causing the hot spot temperature issue. Be interesting to see if AMD does a recall.

this is a yikes. I hope AMD come out with a full on nerd explanation and deep dive on what went wrong

Will GOG pay attention? I'd start buying games there again, if they'd just give Galaxy to Linux.

I got an Xbox 1914 controller for my Linux box, it wouldn't pair with Linux until it's firmware was updated in Windows first..

Some dancing oak trees for New Year’s Eve.

I hope everyone has an awesome evening, whatever you’re doing.

I will be happily tucked up in bed well before midnight, but I know it’s a tough time for others. I’ve been in a dark place in years past, so I know what it can be like.

Just don’t ever feel like you are alone.

Tomorrow is new year; a chance for a fresh start. It’s a chance to find joy in the little moments that make up each day.

"Bring back personal blogging." I mean, absolutely. But...this is also the 78th time I've read this exact article since 2007 and I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen. theverge.com/23513418/bring-ba…
in reply to kottke.org

While other similar writeups have addressed it (more or less successfully) this article doesn’t mention a huge problem: discovery and subscription. RSS alone won’t work in a world where barely anyone uses it, and while there are many theoretical solutions, there are few practical, accessible ones yet. Personally, I slowly stopped blogging because in comparison, social media had a wider and more immediate reach.

Welp.

In this new year may we all learn to be a little kinder, a little more helpful, and a little more able to laugh. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The site that did a defamation takedown on my video in the UK has told me they've requested the hit to be removed.

So now I just have to wait for YouTube to fully restore it.

wow, that’s incredible. You’re not having good luck lately…

Do you have a PeerTube instance for your videos?

I love how UoPeople pushes Firefox to it's students.

And before that, they talk about LibreOffice. I'm happy to see that.

For anyone in the UK who can't see my recent video warning people off the scam website, because they got it blocked in the UK, it's on TILVids: tilvids.com/w/sx3oWxzUqQeHDe3p…
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

It makes US defamation laws look reasonable in comparison. And that's one hell of an accomplishment!

The scam site steamdeck . info is trying to bury my video on them. I will be fighting this. This isn’t right. It is a very clear Steam / Steam Deck scam site I am warning people about.

@awoodland I imagine it's probably best not to share if you're still in contact with them and don't want to burn bridges, but I don't see how an email footer could be used to demand confidentiality any more than it could be used to demand five bucks.
in reply to Damon L. Wakes

@DamonWakes @awoodland lmao i will never do any kind of partner / business with a "store" like this, there's no worry about burning bridges, it's likely one person and was only set up recently

I'm reading The Elements of Eloquence by Mark Forsyth. Many hearty belly laughs to be had!
I've just read the section on "Transferred Epithets" and came across this gem of an example:

"It's astonishing how often epithets are transferred and how little we notice. Nobody ever stops to think about a disabled toilet, and why and how it has been disabled. Perhaps the flush has been sabotaged or the U-bend deliberately blocked...P.G. Wodehouse was the great master of this technique...Wodehouse's best for my considered money, was: 'His eyes widened and an astonished piece of toast fell from his grasp.' The idea of astonished toast is just too much, and we let out a surprised chortle."

The last place in Hurstbridge still open for coffee. No more lattes in this village until the end of January! Everyone is on holiday break!
sigh!
in reply to Muse

I will probably be driving to Research for a cuppa now and again throughout January. But it's not the same as taking a nice walk through the park, ending with a little something nice before walking home.
in reply to Muse

oh poostain. our coffiere is going to be giving birth ffs - she cant make coffee at the same time?? jeesh!

is this list sorted from 1 to 10 list or just top 10 in general? I would be quite surprised if Hades was most played.
