All older games being sold in Germany on Steam now require a content rating gamingonlinux.com/2024/03/all-…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Well, we have content rating since 1994 in Germany.
The system has changed several times since then.
Wolkenstein 3D for example got his rating 30 years after release.
In the 90s you only were able to buy it under the table.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Compare to the policies from Korean government err legislation backed by some voters: The Korean government says their department rate all the games released in Korea unless it's for a religious cause, public welfare, or is in test period; They rate games and the content changes for a "cost" --They will decide whether a game patch would require another costly rating session. and the cost is not small for a small firm like a small startup company.

I find it interesting that they call the radio an "instrument". I like how it highlights that it occupies the same creative space as a musician would, and wonder if that could possibly be an awareness that faded with time as recorded music became more normalized.

“Where are you off to?”
“I have no idea.”
“Are you lost?”
“No, I am here.”
“Glad to hear that.”
“Where are you going?”
“Home.”
“What is home?”
“Where I live.”
“But you live here?”
“Yes, home is where I shelter.”
“Is it warm and soft?”
“It is indeed.”
“Take me with you.”

hi I’m Ginny! #introduction

I spent my first decades as a generic white boy in tech, then a year ago I signed up for my first mastodon account and discovered I am a girl!

I post about tech, trans life, post selfies, and openly talk about mental illness and pain (cw'ed)

I’m a single parent w/ a 9 yo daughter, working as a software engineer in Seattle. I also write fiction (ya and speculative) and am generally very dorky.

btw you can be a girl if you want to be, inquire within!

After manual corrections the log app shows errors while loading log files.

I keep thinking about how Amphotis marginata beetles trick ants into feeding them along the foraging trail... and after being tricked... the ants get angry. They attack the beetles who just flatten themselves and wait out the temper tantrum.

Tricking ants just isn't nice.

Super cute #indiegame for 2/29 by npckc: npckc.itch.io/229

I put a reminder on my calendar for 2/29/2028 to play it again. Doing so raised a lot of questions for me: will the game still be there? Will npckc make a different 2/29 game for 2028? Will I still have this calendaring system in four years? Will the world and my life be in a state where I feel able to take 10 minutes for a little game? *incoherent mumbles about climate change and politics*

Anyway, the game's good. 😹

Understandably. I'm pretty sure I asked. If it's not ok to use we can see what to do.
