I started work on a Gamescope backend that uses Wayland xdg-shell, subsurfaces, viewporter, single pixel buffer, ..., etc so that eventually nested Gamescope on Wayland will basically never have to composite and can use hw planes. dmabufs from gamescope clients are passed straight through to host compositor.
It's also on my to-do to implement pre-emptive commits for the baseplane which should remove the 1.x ms latency cost that nested Gamescope incurrs.

Damn, you caught me commenting before reading the article. A bad habit I have. Curious what value the law is even supposed to have if the rating is left to any random third party (which steam undoubtedly is, unless the German government is willing to provide certifications for game content raters employed by Valve). Germany, Australia, and a few other sovereign states have an odd obsession with policing the content of digital media.
Well, we have content rating since 1994 in Germany. The system has changed several times since then. Wolkenstein 3D for example got his rating 30 years after release. In the 90s you only were able to buy it under the table.
Compare to the policies from Korean government err legislation backed by some voters: The Korean government says their department rate all the games released in Korea unless it's for a religious cause, public welfare, or is in test period; They rate games and the content changes for a "cost" --They will decide whether a game patch would require another costly rating session. and the cost is not small for a small firm like a small startup company.

I find it interesting that they call the radio an "instrument". I like how it highlights that it occupies the same creative space as a musician would, and wonder if that could possibly be an awareness that faded with time as recorded music became more normalized.
Not the first time it has happened, and likely won't be the last unless Valve implement some more security checks, but recently a few games tried scamming players by renaming into other popular games.
After recently updating Proton Experimental to be based on the new Proton 9, Valve ended February 2024 with another bunch of bug fixes for Proton Experimental.
