Everything humans do comes at a cost. Particularly since there are so many of us. Some things come at a lesser cost than others.

Gas and diesel requires more of the same to pull it out of the ground, refine it, then transport it all over the world in trucks, trains, and tankers.

We are in a climate crisis. It is also turning into international social crises. We have to do what we can immediately to reduce putting hydrocarbons in the air. That requires getting off oil products in a big way. We then need to keep reducing our ecological footprint.

I don't know of anyone who can convince their government to ban all powered transport today. We still have to transport food. We still have to get to our jobs. We still need to deliver medicines and more. EVs use substantially less petrol than anything else we have.

That is also a type of recycling!

The three `R's, in order: Reduce first, then Reuse, and finally Recycle. It should end in an E: Everything!

Of course "recycle" can also mean "return to nature so nature can reuse and recycle it".

I've never been so big on the "reduce" part myself -- it's more about appropriate use for me. If you reuse and recycle everything then the amount you use is irrelevant so long as you can keep the cycle going and that particular cycle doesn't interfere with any other cycle.
