‘Reeks of Eugenics’: RFK Jr.’s Autism ‘Registry’ Draws Nazi Germany Comparisons
ASAN, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, warned: “There is no indication that autistic people whose data is being taken would be afforded any say in whether their data is used or what it is used for. This raises significant moral, legal, and practical concerns. People have a right to decide what is done with data about their health. Unethical science is bad science.”

A Call for Constructive Engagement
"As leaders of America’s colleges, universities, and scholarly societies, we speak with one voice against the unprecedented government overreach and political interference now endangering American higher education. We are open to constructive reform and do not oppose legitimate government oversight. However, we must oppose undue government intrusion in the lives of those who learn, live, and work on our campuses. We will always seek effective and fair financial practices, but we must reject the coercive use of public research funding."

"This intersects with a soft form of cynicism about our fellow human beings. People underestimate how warm, open-minded, friendly, and trustworthy others are. We make these bleak assumptions about each other in the abstract when asked what “people” are like, and less so when interacting with real, flesh-and-blood humans. This means two things: On the dark side, cynical assumptions cause us to avoid the very social interactions that could make us happier. On the bright side, when we overcome inertia and take a leap of faith on other people, pleasant surprises are everywhere."

The political system of sortition may seem a little exotic to some people. When you experience it in action, I find it seems every day and sensible. Scotland has a house of sortition called the Citizens Assembly. The last council region I lived in regularly called citizens assemblies to consult on public projects, so that they suited the citizens who live there.
When I was a kid in the US people freaked out about socialism, and yet we still have a socialised public education system. Here in Australia we have socialised medicine, we are the envy of the US for that. Most people haven't heard of sortition, but it does seem alien until you realise all the places where it already exists and works quite well.
Here is a BBC report on Scotland's experiment with sortition.

Making professional television and films is expensive. As such anyone who doesn't have big money behind them is most often squeezed out of the game. Those at the top of society are the ones who have the means to select what is and is not made and how. A certain amount of liberal views are tolerated if they bring in audiences and money.
Not all British TV and film makes it to the US, though more is these days. Usually, it's those works that glamorise aristocracy. From the outside everything looks like it is essentially working just fine under a British hierarchy.
BUT despite the name, the "United Kingdom" is not united at all. It is a collection of densely populated islands that are divided by culture, language, and politics. England is still a colonial power, but it robs their neighbours rather than India these days.
These letters in The National are highly enlightening.
