EVERSPACE 2 appears to be quite a success for ROCKFISH Games, not only is it doing well on Steam with a Very Positive rating in Early Access but they just got a big bonus from the German federal parliament.
It was pretty much a given that Dwarf Fortress was going to be popular on Steam, but the smash hit it has become is quite a surprise on just how well it's doing.
Oh wow, no Linux support on release, despite the fact that OG Dwarf Fortress has had it forever? That's a heck of an oversight, and means I won't be buying it for now.
If you go into Steam Settings and enable both Steam Play options (and keep Proton on the most current) you can install Dwarf Fortress just fine in Linux. That's how I play it just now. 👍
