This has to be some of the weakest anti-EV nonsense I've ever read. The reasons why "fast electric cars" are overrated are:

a) They are unaffordable (like fast ICE cars perhaps?)

b) Limited range (first, who drives long distances in these cars? secondly, the range on high performance ICE cars is not great either).

c) Charging times are slower than filling a gas tank. While true, this doesn't seem to hamper people who take their EVs on the track.

in reply to John Gordon 📷

Well, yes, arguably a few hundred kg of extra battery weight might cause tires to wear faster on EVs compared with similar ICEs, but IMO this is lost against the awful trend for massive SUV's (I hate SUV's!) that look like bloated jelly beans anyway. But I agree that disinformation on EVs and renewable energy topics more broadly is being pumped out in massive quantities. A little physics training goes a long way in helping to spot and ignore such nonsense!
in reply to Alan Sill

The use of regen braking though mitigates the extra weight, though as you say the trend for larger cars means the weight difference is less and less. My neighbor’s new BMW weighs more than my Taycan (some odd rule about tax deductions and minimum weight - apparently the Taycan was t heavy enough because he was thinking of it!)

This is a great example of being both absolutely correct and incredibly annoying.
in reply to Dare Obasanjo

I don’t think it’s correct, since it’s preventing other people from entering the queue area…
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron maybe, maybe not. If the queue management ropes are set up for the busiest time of day, and that's not now, there's probably multiple rows of empty queue space behind her.
