Crunchyroll is shutting down the Funimation streaming service and deleting everyone's purchased copies of stuff, while also hiking their own prices.
Stop paying for streaming media. Buy things you actually own. Or get it elsewhere.

The three million toothbrush botnet story isn’t true.

Here’s the original source of the story: archive.is/2024.01.30-203406/l…

It’s simply a made up example. It doesn’t exist. It starts talking about NoName Ddosia, too, which also isn’t toothbrushes.

Kudos to @BleepingComputer for doing actual journalism.

Fortinet also declined to comment to me.

It's a completely made up story, which is now being circulated as Russian propaganda.

These are the 7 Cooperative Principles that form the blueprint for a cooperative, and were created by The Rochedale Pioneers in 1844:

1. Voluntary and Open Membership
2. Democratic Member Control
3. Members’ Economic Participation
4. Autonomy and Independence
5. Education, Training, and Information
6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives
7. Concern for Community

Little reminder: These principles have actually evolved quite a bit from the 1844 version. And also important to remember that cooperativism didn't start in England in 1844 but arises through many diverse traditions and lifeways. I love this resource: rmfu.org/wp-content/uploads/MN…

the Good Old Days where the zeitgeist of computer security was "yeah but nobody would ever try to do that because it's rude, so we don't need to defend against it"

"so emails have a field that specifies who it came from. what's that? you can just write literally anything in the field and pretend you're the WHO? yeah but who would do that? that's like writing a fake name on a letter, and that's just mean"

"Any social media platform that dips under 10% poster will fail, but as the early days of Bluesky demonstrated, if you over index on posters, you will have endless fucking chaos. It is possible that posters are deeply unwell. Certainly they are far too online." theverge.com/24058356/trolls-s…

Harassing botnets with zipbombs.

The idea is this: instead of just blocking IP addresses that hit honeypot URLs, feed them a compressed document that massively expands on their end, making them run out of memory and crash.

This is extremely...
