the spider is hogging the light because insects are attracted to it at night. This is a result of light pollution. Ad screens for example regularly have spiders building nets on them.

I'm up next for @fpg's Future Proof Plays stream! Today at 15:00 Eastern (in about 4 hours), I'll be playing Muse Game's #Wildmender. It looks like a cute desert farming game with some survival stuff, and I'm very interested to see what the balance on that is (i.e., how stressful it is 😅).

Walt Whitman was born OTD in 1819. Song of Myself is a singularly Darwinian poem. The re-placing of natural theological tropes in a thoroughly naturalistic setting is characteristic of both. 🧪🦫🦋🐋🌱#HistSTM #BookSky

🌳🌱 Did you know woody plants can reshape soil health in #drylands? A study by Martha Mary Farella, David D. Breshears and Rachel Gallery shows that woody plant cover alone can predict nearly 50% of #soil function changes, including nutrient levels and microbial activity. anti-trans stuff, restrooms

The last three paragraphs of this article are very important.

As I write this, I am in a hotel bed, in the middle of the country, on day two of a 1200 mile move from a "do not travel" state to a "blue state" (on Erin's map).

Existing (openly) as anything other than cis-gender in so much of America is too big of a threat to personal safety.

I just hope that the safety that "blue" states provide doesn't collapse on us.

Xiaoma in this video tries to communicate with Bonobo apes using their language. I was surprised that the researcher was interested he wasn't just wanting an ape to speak in a human or human contrived language. I would always start with speaking in their language. How better to bridge the communication gap?

This vlogger does interesting videos about languages. Human languages. He's a lot of fun! And recently he decided he was going to try learning the language of dolphins and speak with them. This is the sweetest video!

That's a standard autocrat tactic, that way they know they're utterly dependent on staying on his good side because his whims are the only thing keeping them in the position.
