Content warning: fedi meta, calling out an antisemitic fedi influencer and instance
I despise AIPAC as much as the next person but this is a textbook antisemitic canard. As well, many of the replies going a step further and implying that AIPAC is basically controlling American politics is antisemitic.
This is the kind of antisemitic rhetoric you hear from Nazis that actively places Jews and Jewish communities in danger. And I only see Jews on here and a small select amount of people here talking about this.
At baseline this was REALLY bad, but it gets worse in the replies when she engages in blatant tokenism of her Jewish friends and becomes defensive at the mere implication that she could be possibly antisemitic.
I got blocked for calling her shit out.
Honestly if you actually give a shit about Jews here then block or silence the instance dair-community (dot) social or request your instance admin to do so. And stop boosting or engaging with their content. Please.
Nothing excuses garbage like this, and we need to call out antisemitism on the ‘left’ just as well as we do on the right to curb the discrimination. Just because you think what you’re doing helps save starving or tortured Gazans doesn’t make disgusting shit like this okay.
Call it out when your friends do it, call it out when you see news reports on it, call it out when you see posts about it. If we don’t call it out then our Jewish friends won’t be able to stand by our side on issues like this, which obviously is not helping the people of Gaza.
Jewish people can be pro-Palestine too, and if you think they can’t you’re just antisemitic.
Content warning: fediblock tech[dot]lgbt for racist harassment on top of history of racism and antisemitism
tech[dot]lgbt has had a history of antisemitism and racist behavior as documented by Weirder Earth, before the existence of LGBTQIA+ Simchadon on the fediverse. See this post https://weirder.earth/@WeirderAdmin/109814556541559784. In the following months Tech LGBT claimed to be attempting to make improvements to their moderation to ensure these sorts of situations would not happen again; however, poor moderation behavior from the instance has continued. See https://rage.love/@admin/111042599173615822 for some more information, where Tech LGBT has allowed a user who makes harassing reports to remain on the instance and seems more concerned about that user's safety and giving them another chance than the safety of others on Tech LGBT and the rest of fedi. On top of this, a mod from Tech LGBT kickstarted a racist harassment campaign, and while the mod themselves has shown personal regret for this action the admin of Tech LGBT is still in defense of these original actions. Additionally, we have now found out today that a known racist serial harasser has an account on Tech LGBT; we sincerely hope that this can be addressed promptly.
While we were not around for the original offenses from Tech LGBT, it is clear to us that even if they are trying to correct course − or even if there are members of the mod team who do want to correct course − that this is far from happening. Upon examination of their current behavior and reconciling it with their past behavior over this last year, we are moving to suspend Tech LGBT. Tech LGBT is our biggest source of connections and we will be giving 6 weeks, or until Tuesday, October 24 2023, until defederating.
Though the user voluntarily identified themself in their report and tech.lgbt confirmed at my request that the identification is correct (the account is now suspended from r.l), I have redacted the account information from the screenshot because the mods feared my publicly posting about the user will cause this user to be harassed. This led me to consider the account information confirmed for internal purposes only and not for general release, hence the redaction.
Nevertheless, you may judge for yourself who tech.lgbt considers worthy of protection from harassment by retaining anonymity, while leaving anyone who interacts with this user open to potential harassment or unknowingly interacting with a harasser. This approach may have its merits in giving the user a chance and many may well agree with it, but may not be compatible with all instances' moderation policies. It certainly is not with ours.
