great, I did not know about #ONLYOFFICE. Good to see that a #flatpak version is available. Iโ€™ll try it ๐Ÿš€

Flathub and Flatpak finally provides a unique way to install applications across all Linux distributions.

But what if you just want to install Flatpaks from Flathub? Seems easier to just stick with the "flatpak" command.

Flatpaks are easy to install. Just visit Flathub, find the application you want to install, and copy and paste the code on the command line.

Always use Flatpak and Flathub when possible. They are faster, reliable and almost always up-to-date.

Valve is seeing an increasing number of bug reports for issues caused by Canonical's repackaging of the Steam client through snap.

The best way to install Steam on Debian and derivative operating systems is to follow the instructions at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/#getting-started and use the official .deb

We are not involved with the snap repackaging. It has a lot of issues.

If you don't want the .deb, please at least consider the flatpak version.

Today's updated Flathub docs: more information for app developers about verification, including some more technical details. Inspired yet again by conversations with external ISVs.

makes sense.

I wounder if popular apps could use that to provide #FlatPak|s if they already build #AppImage|s...

Well, #Snap may be better on the #Server side but considering the "standard by consensus" on #FLOSS they should admit defeat and go with #FlatPak.

Espechally since #Canonical doesn't seem to yet provide the benefit of a #centralized #repo in the form of #QualityControl and #Verification of #Developers...

@BrodieOnLinux took a look at the case:

I'll keep saying it, because it keeps coming up. If you're working in the FreeDesktop, Linux, or Flatpak spaces, you *need* to understand this, even if you don't personally care about gaming or Steam Deck.

Accent colors are now a standard preference for Linux!

And endorsed by #GNOME, #KDE, #CosmicDE, #ElementaryOS, and #Budgie, at that!

This is a fantastic development! We should also thank forward-looking distros like @elementary and its AppCenter for Everyone initiative for paving the way.

Now, will #Canonical follow this move with Snap? Because I'd much rather support an ecosystem that in turn has the mechanisms in place to support the developers.

Did some research on #SteamDeck. Seems like #SteamDeck supports #Flatpak. In fact, it would be the preferred application install method.

So I can install #Discord with Flatpak on a SteamDeck and chat over it.

The bad news is Discord client with Flatpak doesn't support game overlay.
