Over at @sciencemagazine I reviewed @9brandon's marvelous MEET THE NEIGHBORS, about animal lives, animal minds, and ethics of animal-human relating. It's a brilliant book and I hope you'll check it out. #books #bookreview #bookstodon #animals #animalwelfare #animalrights #anthropology #biology https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adq5698
Thrilled that this short animation based around my work on animal grief is now live. The animation division of TED, at TED-Ed, invited me to collaborate with their team in bringing out some of the animal-grief science and my ideas on why knowing this information matters for treatment of animals. I worked with a brilliant animator, Denis Chapon! Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sNpMb4M7XM #animals #anthropology #grief #animalwelfare #animalrights #animation #TED

In other words, the shark was swimming at home, bothering exactly no one. https://news.sky.com/video/shark-spotted-near-swimmers-at-florida-beach-12916154 #sharks #fish #animals #animalwelfare #animalrights

Unacceptable. Public pressure DOES help, I really believe, and the octopuses deserve that from us. "The farm in Spain's Canary Islands would raise about a million octopuses annually for food, according to confidential documents seen by the BBC." https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-64814781 #octopus #cephalopod #Spain #animalwelfare #animalrights #plantbased #animals
